Thanks Tooty. This thrilling day is all Don. It was he, sharing his blessing, that made it impossible.
I can say without hesitation that these are the biggest gills I've ever caught with any consistency.
Here and there I've gotten them approaching a pound, but these were weighed. We had a good idea of their true size. A few went over the 2# Mark.
To catch them cast after cast was a surreal experience, to say the least.

Another fatty for Old Don. Probably around 2 lbs, these were hauled out from under that thick mat of pine pollen you see on the water behind him. This stuff blankets the surface this time of, year, and everything else. It is blown around the ponds like mats of weed, first covering one area, then another as the wind shifts. In time, it will help nourish the pond as it decomposes.

Theres a saying here that goes: "Everyone in South Carolina drives a yellow car, come April."
