When I convert store bought floats, I glue the beads in. When I'm building a float from scratch, I rely on a friction fit for the bead.

I have since decided that a metal grommet in place of the LOWER glass bead is completely acceptable, and does not require the use of the threader to get the float onto your line.

I got the beads at Wall-Mart not sure of the size .

They stay in on their own ,no glue just rub them on your pants to soften the tube and it will form over the bead.

What size bead do you use, and where do you get them?  I've been thinking about this myself.

Do you glue or epoxy it in or does it stay on its own.

I've been building slip floats with glass beads for some time now. They perform well for me also.

The Glass Beads work really well !  Not hard to do, you just have to trim out the tube a little , then push the bead into it . It helps to add heat by rubbing it on your pants then push it into the end .
