Do you love big bluegill?
Growing up in southeastern Louisiana the two most abundant species of sunfish in the bayous and marsh that my father and I fished as early as the late 1960s, were Stump Knockers (aka -Spotted Sunfish) and Goggle-Eye Perch (aka-Warmouth) , we would often catch a family fish fry solely of these two species…..and believe it or not I used to filet every spotted sunfish, often just five or six inch fish…..but this is what gave me my addiction that is some 56 years old and counting……what a good memory just from catching just 2 Warmouth this morning in North Carolina, part of a 78 fish mixed bag….all fish released in this intense heatwave we’re having….
