Do you love big bluegill?
Wooly Worm tipped with Gulp!
In my desire to fish flies without using a fly rod, I tipped this WW with some "fake" waxworms.... worked great! Sinks slow, casts well, no messy bug guts on my hands....

Yeah Vince they were Gulp waxworms... I do think that real waxworms are more bouyant however. They tend to slow the sink rate of the fly even more. I don't recall ever trying the Gulp by themselves on a hook, I tip with them for added casting weight without altering the sink rate of the fly too much. I do prefer the real, (live) thing, but will use what's available.

Were they Gulp WW, Tony? I always wonder how well they work. Hard to find the real ones at our bait shops. Plenty of meal worms, but no waxies.
