I think there's definitely a lot of OSS in that fish. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of something extra in the mix, though.

The ear flap suggests Red Spotted like Federico said and not RBS like I said .

Check out Jeffrey Abneys post of the Red Spotted Sunfish . The range of the Red Spotted Sunfish is there where you are for sure .I am seeing turquoise fins only on your fish though . http://bigbluegill.com/forum/topics/lepomis-miniatus-red-spotted-su...

I caught this on the Colorado river in austin.  this one was about 3-4 inches probably, and caught one a little bit bigger after this one but didn't take a pic

I believe this is either a red spotted or orange spotted sunfish, they are common on he rivers close to Austin. they are really good fighters though they are not very big 5-6" is the norm

I believe its a redbreasted Sunfish .Where was this caught ? The Shenendoah River in VA have RBS with turquoise fins like that .See my profile pic.

It's got a stubbie tail also.

Not for sure on the kind, but it looks to be a well fed healthy one.
