I think there's definitely a lot of OSS in that fish. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of something extra in the mix, though.

The ear flap suggests Red Spotted like Federico said and not RBS like I said .

I caught this on the Colorado river in austin. this one was about 3-4 inches probably, and caught one a little bit bigger after this one but didn't take a pic
I believe this is either a red spotted or orange spotted sunfish, they are common on he rivers close to Austin. they are really good fighters though they are not very big 5-6" is the norm
I believe its a redbreasted Sunfish .Where was this caught ? The Shenendoah River in VA have RBS with turquoise fins like that .See my profile pic.
It's got a stubbie tail also.
Not for sure on the kind, but it looks to be a well fed healthy one.
