Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I look forward to the spring bite as I traditionally catch the largest fish of the season during the prespawn....

maybe this is the original sunfish and and all the other varieties came from this type.i run across some odd sunfish i assume are hybrids .i gotta take more pictures this year.caught a real monster late last summer but my phone was in my bag .too far of walk .wanted to get him relleased in good shape.

Thanks guys........certainly appears logical Jim........their fins are much fuller than other sunfish for sure........very much like a crappie as you suggested......

every time you show one of these jeffrey i am more convinced its a gill crappie hybrid of some kind.maybe thousands of years ago but still a very crappie like profile.then it's got that faint striper pattern.cool looking fish
