I'm kind of like the old cook who just wings it, never measure or write a recipe down. I just use my imagination (and/or somebody else's) and start tying with what I have available. Sometimes I will see a different kind of material (like all the kinds of chenille) and retie the fly with something else. Tying is a whole world into to it's own.
