Your right on the money Tony but I think some of the sites I looked at was different state DNR's. I guess if we had any amount of the longears and red breast I would have them learned be really don't remember seeing any around her.

Longeared Sunfish apparently have a flap that's wider than the eye .Not true of the RBS .

I think this is a good place to check : http://www.georgiawildlife.com/Fishing/RedbreastSunfish  This link doesn't mention Longears : http://www.georgiawildlife.com/node/609

For instance......I just went to Google, selected images, and typed in Hybrid Bluegill....some of the fish pictured are not hybrids.

BUT.....I did notice that Bruce Condello's photo showed up right away, holding a hybrid, as did one of Jim Gronaw......

Someday...........

If you're trying to I.D. fish on the net, choose your source wisely....I can't begin to tell you how many incorrectly labeled fish show up on a Google search.

I think a lot of tagging has been done wrongly Dick .

After reading Tony's comment about the longears and redbreast sunfish I got on the net and just looked at pictures and see the differences. Now I can tell you I am really confused I'm thinking the longears look alot like seed but with long ears but if you look at more piocs you'll see redbreast that look like seeds. Just goes to show you can't believe everything you see and read on the net. I'm still confused but at least I know I'm confused now.

Ever notice how Redbreasts have longears, while Longears can have red breasts???? Who named these fish anyway?

So Tobias ,great news You do have RBS In North Georgia !? You are not the only one to get them confused and its an initiation I believe .I think some tag their photos wrong before they realize . Hope to see more of your RBS and other species!
