It is rare, but I do catch a koi or two every couple of years that people have released from garden ponds into public waters. Bottom feeders - don't tell this guy. He was caught 3" off the bottom on a grub. A common misconception of carp is that they only bottom feed. The truth is they are adept at finding food at all levels and also surface feed for hatching insects and terrestrials.

He looks like the twin brother of one I saw yesterday at a local retention pond. Last month, I caught several largemouth bass and bluegills on a Rebel Crickhopper, not to mention this catfish.
