Rod n' Reel Popping Bug Presentation
In many of the locations I fish in the swamps of North Carolina it is not possible to use a traditional fly rod because of the canopy and narrow creeks.....I have a proven method that has worked for me and this photo represents....It is a 3.5 inch silver floating Rapala (F09 S) with the back treble hook removed with two feet of 6 pound line attached to the slip ring to secure one of my favorite poppers to the rapala...... Time to go fishing with my medium action rod with one of my spincasting reels.....

That's really interesting! Do you retrieve it quickly enough to make the Rapala dive, or keep it slow and on the surface? Have you ever tried it with a nymph instead of a popper, with the Rapala acting as a strike indicator?
