Turns out the same size female crappie along with some males are staging in the same place they were early March in 2015...........validated yesterday and I hop to check out another spot close by after work today............getting Spring fever big time!
Going to check this spot out this weekend..........
Thanks Andy.......it appears that way......we often get a little weather late in March but all in all things are trending in the right direction........my fish finder was stacked yesterday and often the bite is better when that's the case but it was slow and steady while catching fish almost immediately and throughout the trip........I didn't require big results fishing to enjoy the great weather........it was refreshing to get out, think about the spring season and even sweat a little cleaning and storing the boat.......saved enough for a family fish fry this week so things are returning to normal around the Abney Fish Camp.......LOL
Nice job! I had conflicts (fun ones; shouldn't complain too much) and didn't fish on the gorgeous day.. I will get to do a little near coastal fishing the end of the month at Camp Runamuck (Seagull or Seafarer; not sure which we will be assigned to as Y camp volunteers, but I will have some free time to fish there). Anyway, glad to see you are getting into them. I think Spring is just about here to stay.
Thanks Carl.......we should be wide open here in a couple weeks..........very favorable forecast and the fish have an internal clock that will start working on them too.......
a super nice catch Jeff! glad you finally got out and did good!!
It was good to get out on a spring like day after a brutal February........probably could have caught more crappie but I concentrated on a decent gill bite once I discovered they were stacked in a deep tree top.....using a quill float right now with the water still cold........
