I found out when this fish was molded the taxidermist gave a sample to the DNR and it was aged at 7 years old. It was a very thick fish.

The mount has already been picked up. The best I can do is show you a photo of this jig that is the same size (1/64th) as the one in the mouth of the Bluegill. Both jigs were tied by the same person. I know it's a little lame, but it's all I got. Believe me, this was a monster!

The fish was caught in Florida and molded about 20 years ago. It was bigger than the state record. All I can tell you is that the angler that caught it didn't consider it a priority to registered it with the DNR.
This is the current Florida state record Bluegill....

This state record and the replica I did were both caught from the same lake.
The angler that caught the 3 1/2 pounder also caught two others that were in the 3 pound range!

Yes I agree with Bruce and Jim. Put something in the photo so that we can relate the size of the Bluegill to it. And where was this fish caught and who caught it? Very nice work Tim-

Can we see this photo again with some sort of perspective in it...like a quarter or something? That bluegill must be monumental in size!

Wow Tim! Where did that one come from?
