Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Does anyone use this brand? I usually buy an entire card of them when I am in Indiana. I haven't been able to find them since I moved to Georgia.

hey john;;  I use those plastic stick tube things you get at conveience store; when I get coffee to go.  perfect size for the bobber stops!!  the knot I use;; is from my construction days;;some call it a scaling hitch. the material I use;; is rubber from my fly tying stuff.  I have used string before;; but it dries out real bad.  haven't used mono yet; but it should work great to.  do you want me to make you up a few?? I have some green mono;; and some white rubber I use in fly tying.  by the way;; I use a small hobby vise to hold my tube straw; so I can wrap it up.  works great!!

Great video! My problem is getting my old beat up fingers to work :).

John, use this. The best instruction I've seen in a while:

John - really old school: monofilament.

That's what I learned on. I dispense with the little tube-thingies, too.
Just tie it on the line.

Carl, what do you use and how do u do it? I've heard of using rubber band pieces. I see Leo uses fly backing . I could use 30# Dacron  Ice fishing backing line .I have an excess .

I like making my own bobber stops.  real easy to do;; make as many as I want ; and they work as well as any store bought ones

They are reasonably inexpensive, have long tag ends on the knot that make it easier for my old fingers to get hold of and comes with beads. I've used them for years. The company that makes them is out of Cassopolis, Michigan.

That's a new one on me....what do you like about them, vs. other similar stops?

Comment by Leo Nguyen on October 16, 2013 at 8:18pm

Nope. I make a dozen or so using 30lbs and 40lbs fly backing I have laying around.

Whats different about them, other than they look like they are on a single straw....
