Speckled Trout?  As in saltwater Speckled Trout?

Yes, Jeff, I caught him in a creek in the Newbegun area.  I hooked a keeper puppy drum (20-22") on a Beetle Spin and 4# line on Friday afternoon in the same spot.  He broke off in my hand when he flopped as he hit the bank.  I've heard of some really nice speckled trout being caught in the Pasquotank, too.

That's the first thing I thought when I saw the pic, before I saw the text about the size.  BIG fish right there!  Heck, I've caught White Bass that were smaller and taken them home to release to the grease....

I've caught a couple White Perch here.  They're considered invasive here in Okieland, and most folks will kill them on capture.

I've heard they make great cut bait for catfish......

Nice one Jeff......Newbegun? They have been catching some nice ones in the lower end of the Little River and the Perquimans as well.......
