Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Best of 2012.......A great Frisbee Gill from Bagleys Swamp N.C.

This pound class gill is preserved in my freezer for an upcoming Daily Double mount......A live Grass Shrimp victim last May.....

Thanks guys....this fish barely made ten inches long but it was just as tall......He made it rough on me with only a 10 foot telescopic pole......came out of the water like a bass.....banging into the side of the boat.....Wild moment!

Not very good aging gills David...looks like an old man but who knows....Some scientific studies of our estuary say gills can grow three to five inches a year here in North Carolina's public waters with the Coppernose being the fastest growing of the sunfish....I'd like to catch another round one similar to this one to get them mounted together....

What a pig! Small wonder it could even swim. How old do you reckon it was?

This fish was also a Telescopic challenge and a 1/50th ounce tipped tomato seed jig.....I thought I was at Busch Gardens when I set the hook......
