Allen, This hole of water has no creeks running into , there are some small coves!!!!! the dam is on the south and it stretches to the north!!!!!!! The fish have been on the deep points in the main body of the lake, with no wind block!!!!! Near the KANZA Tribal reservation, Kanza = WIND PEOPLE!!!!!! ERGO, the PRAIRIE!!!!!! :-)
Mark, I was using my 10' 2 weight,it works really well in the wind!!!!!!
Nice one Greg did you catch it on the lightweight fly rod in all that wind? I would be smiling too!!
gregs famous pose!! curled finger ; big smile; just to much fun greg!! have a ball buddy!!
LOL! Will reach out and telegraph you as I approach your location on the dual mules transport.
Jen, Greg, I think you two will beat most of Californians on float tubes with your tree-trunk legs of steel. We hid ourselves in our bunkers until the wind died to a light breeze. LIGHT! From the breezes you're describing, seeing the churning the water that begin to turn the wakes into tsunami..I humble myself before you. That's not breezes! That's gale wind.
BTW Great shot, suitable for framing! One nice cracker!
Find a creek that drops down about 15' below the floodplain. Or, if you're on a lake, find protection from the wind where the bluffs are protecting you from the wind (several of those around here).
You can also use the wind to your advantage. If you're fishing for big cats or Stripers, position yourself upwind, blow up a balloon, tie it to you line, chuck it out. and slowly strip off line as the wind blows the balloon rig towards your target.
I've got an idea for a new design for a Vertical Axis Windmill. Might have to patent that.
