Hey Mikey-D, Coppernose are also known as “Florida Strain” bluegill as well….extreme southeastern Virginia is long been established as the northern most range of a Coppernose…….the Northwest and North Landing rivers have a sustainable population and they were the prized bounty in the glory days of Back Bay…….they are the dominant strain of bluegill in the brackish waters east of interstate 95 in North Carolina……they get their nickname from the shiny (new penny shine) spot on their foreheads…….Jeff
I have never seen a coppernose Jeff fine looking fish.
Thanks Mikey-D….exactly……Albemarle has an abundance of creeks and rivers that hold abundant fresh water species….currituck sound is part of the intracoastal waterway…..
Nice looking fish Jeff that's brackish tidal water there in the Albemarle isn't it like the Currituck sound?
Thanks Jack……getting into the summer grind…
That's a beautiful fish.
