Air temps around 40 to start the day and very breezy, the winter that won’t let go…….wind tide pushed out overnight to the detriment of shallow cover fishing……managed 19 speckles before the wind had built up to 20 with higher gusts…

Thanks alot Jim, had a great weekend, especially Saturday when our water level was perfect for shallow spawners, wind shifted overnight and we were down 14” by daylight Sunday, got 19 stragglers yesterday but with the pink moon next Saturday it should break wide open on all eleven river systems I fish locally….we all catch a “black nose” now and then in my region. Most river systems in eastern North Carolina are dominated by Black Crappie but our lakes and reservoirs have both species but most will hold more White Crappie….good luck on your upcoming crappie fishing, catch a few and have great fellowship!
Nice Jeffrey, the spawn is in full swing by the way that guy looks.Where i go we catch mostly white's.When i used to go to Reelfoot Black crappies were dominant. We do have a subspecies in IL ,can't recall the name but kind of a dark spot or band across the nose and a different dorsal spine count.
