Funny how things go.......one year ago tomorrow I had skim ice and 34 degree surface temps............late today surface temps in the same location are sitting at 52 degrees........with below freezing temps forecasted just once the rest of February......we may have a better than average March........................

Hey thanks Larry.......few days of arctic air gave us a 1/2 inch of skim ice so I had to break it up to get to one of my favorite creek basins......these fish will remain until they begin to transition to spawning areas which are on adjacent banks so I'm excited about the weeks and months ahead............the river crappie bite is much different than lake crappie in most states including North Carolina

Some of these big girls were showing egg development so I didn't make them part of the bounty........I want to catch them again while fishing just a foot deep around flooded cypress next month............these indicators are aligning with the 2014 crappie bite which was one of my best crappie years ever...........
