Do you love big bluegill?
After launching on a feeder creek off the Pasquotank River I had to chop through a 1/4 mile of skim ice to get to open water..........This area was clear this past Monday..........Had a dusting of snow last night ahead of the big weekend storm..........

Same creek is 46 degrees today and 60s in the forecast all week.........be awhile for skim ice............
El Nino' will return next week........60s both days to send January out like a lamb next weekend........Yeah Carl I have been shut down by iced over launches.........but yesterday the dew point was single digits and the wind tide had the water pushed out so the ramp was high and dry........
wow... what happened to El nino?
good point there Carl ... icy ramps have to be a nightmare
one thing tho Jeffery;; watch out at the boat ramps !! around my area; its not un-common to see guys ; who tried to stop backing up; and their trucks went underwater ! several very steep boat ramps get real icy; makes for very nervous loading or un loading boats !!
Hey Steve I hear you.......curiosity got the best of me yesterday as many years we never even get skim ice around here.......not pictured.......a guy in a little aluminum boat got in behind me to follow me out.........he was still out when I returned to the launch so I hope he got back through o.k.
Looks like a good weekend to pull equipment maintainence Jeffrey
Hope we dodge all the winter precipitation.......looks like three inches of rain here and I'll take that so we can bounce back quicker......
YUP WE ARE IN FREEZE MODE FOR SURE BUDDY....... BATTON DOWN THE HATCHES you guys are in for a blow Jeffrey !!!!!!!!!
Understand......normally anytime we're single digits or teens around here the Midwest is already a deep freeze........
on 1/20/1985 it was minus 27.we all got in on that one
