The local ones tend to have bright orange bellies that are almost red most of the year to further confuse the issue. I need to go get some samples but I expect that if I find any the colors will be more subdued right now.

Hybrids are very common when so many sunfish species live together..........time of the year and the associated water temperatures impact the colors as well.......it gets crazy sometimes......know what you mean Andy......
