David,
Thank You for the recipe I knew it was tied like a Beaded Wooly Bugger but wasn't sure the palmered hackle body also was marabou and the body material was black hare's ear dubbing. Thanks Again Gary
Ya know Jim the first fifteen years or so I used both these bugs I used em weightless. I mainly fished beds then and wanted em to sink really slowly , which they did. After years of watching my son Andy catching fish 20' deep with the various bugs , I decided to try it and very seldom use em completely weightless now . If I want em to stay up off the bottom some I'll just slide the split shot up the line a bit and adjust from there...
Sorry Gary the flourecent material is Marabou ....
Hey Gary recipe is as follows..The top bug is called a silent stinger named by Jeffrey Abney on here. It is a #10 Mustad Dry fly hook , 1/8th " hollow metal bead, and Floruecent Yellow (looks chartreuse but isn't ) , and black hares' ear dubbing . There is a video on youtube of how to make em and is impossible to explain.
#2 is really simpe, #10 mustad dry fly hook , 1/8" hollow metal bead, purple medium rayon chenille , white medium round rubber legs....Hope it all helps...
YUP JIM I use the smallest reusable size called a "B" and water gremiln make em I think. Remember they float till ya get em good and wet...
Tootie...do you fish any of these with a split-shot?
Very nice looking panfish flies, would it be possible to list or post the tying recipe for both flies as I would like to tie up a few of them and try them here in Southern MN.
Thanks Gary
Yup at least proven by me anyway..... I've sent so many of these out to various guys for testing I've lost count now and they still work after 20+ years Dick, thanks......
Both are proven and both good baits.
