Crappie have always impressed me with the way they look! A very fond memory is the first one I caught early in the morning back in my Youth from a 'no Fishing' Dock, in Packanack Lake, a community in Wayne New Jersey where I grew up. I described the Fish to my mother, and she said that's a Calico Bass. She grew up in Worcester Massachusetts and was probably used to that term from there. I hardly hear that name for a Crappie anymore.
