Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Tried releasing but bellied up. I am kinda ashamed! 20",3lbs. Took a 3/4 oz. SlimFish Spoon 30 feet on bottom. Made three cuts for smoking and tasted great!

Jeff, this fish was not gut hooked, but I think the temp change from the bottom of the basin in 30', to the surface temp of 80 degrees was the reason for the demise. I am guilty of keeping the Fish too long out of the water for pics and measurements. should have kept the Fish in the Net and released quicker. Hope fully I get another under the similar Summer Circumstances and have a successful release.

Nice fish John, your heart was in the right place….I look at it that the fish was not wasted…..I try to release every big largemouth but sometimes they unfortunately get a hook in the gills or swallow a bait…..you did the right thing…..
