A little hot grease, hushpuppies, and cheese grits- Mmm.  They sure were tasty.

Short & fat that's for sure.......look odd.

Jason if you caught them on micro gear I know that had to be a blast.

channel cats?? bullheads??  nope!!  fileted up- cooked -- its dinner!!

Comment by Jason on March 16, 2014 at 7:19pm

You may be right, they do look more like blues rather than channels.  Never really heard of blues being in a pond.  Wish I had taken better pics.  Whatever they were, they pulled like crazy on my micro gear and I bet they will taste good after swimming in hot grease for a few minutes.

Both Channels and Blues have forked tails.  Also, the heads are really broad.  With that short, stocky body, I'm leaning towards Bullheads.  Nice-sized ones, if they are.  Most of the bullies I catch are just a tad longer than 'gills.

Look like bluecats no positive though.

I'm not sure these are Channel cats since they have a forked tail. Nice cats though.

Really fat channel cats.  Was shocked when I didn't find any eggs.  The two bass were both females with eggs.  Looks like the catfish are out competing the bass.
