These were just random selections from my collection box, Angelo. I haven't been tying for any determined purpose, really, because I haven't fly fished enough to know a killing fly in my locale. SO, I'm just getting my feet wet and trying to develop a feel for the process.

Now, it must be said that I'm lucky to stand on the shoulders of giants, here at BBG and other web sites. I have managed to pick up a tidbit or two about what does work, and I'll start some focused tying efforts over the Xmas break.

Meanwhile, the boxes have filled with my many experiments. SO, I reached in, closed my eyes and took out a couple for each swap member.

- The red and white one (left) is white chenille, red marabou tail, red glass bead head and hen soft hackle. My memory is kinda sketchy, as that was an early one, but it probably ha some weight added in the form of lead wire. Basically a Tooty-style stinger with hackle collar.

- The black and white one is a just a soft hackle-type fly. Kinda in the Old Yorkshire fashion - an English "spider," if you will. Floss body and ostrich herl ribbing (pretty sure), some sort of hen hackle that I can't make out in the picture. The tail is probably the same quill fibers as the hackle (again, memory is a little sketchy) I like a glossy, beaded head, though, and I do see that. A basic pattern, you can do these a zillion different ways. I've come to like 'em..

They look good to use here by the way. The red and white hopefully be good when spawning comes into play, letting it sink down to the beds plan on hooking a big gill on that one. The soft hackle fly looks good when they aren't biting too good switching to something that looks like a drown spider should do the trick. Thank you for extra flies. Will be a good treat for spring/summer action
