Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

So I had an interesting conversation with Carl Hendrix earlier … he asked me if I was going to use his Rascals if I was to go out fishing this afternoon and I told him I would and was anxious but it might be too windy. He also noted that his Rascals catch everything…. Possums … turtles everything. Lol I laughed.
Later in the afternoon I decided my neck pain was acceptable to go out for a bit. I hit my big bluegill hot spot and see nothing … no schools just a few preds at the second and third break probably smallmouth I thought. My focus was Gill! I set up my heaviest action UL drop shot rig with the smallest pink Rascal in the bunch pinched off a piece of crawler and casted a pattern at the first break probably 12- 15 ft. the rod jumped as I was crawling the rascal back on about the fourth cast. Auto hook set I thought as the reel screamed I carefully played the fish to the boat and was shocked to see a huge channel cat. First and personal best. Thanks again Carl!

Like me, Ken. I could find a "need" for every rod I own!

Keith... yeah I checked the action on the drop shot in shallow water looked real good.

On an additional note I saw this fish on my sounder coming into my spot... thought it was a smallie.

Thank ya
Hey although this was caught unintentionally, Carl did tell me earlier they will catch anything.

I just may target these within the next few days with cut bait. It was a blast.

David... I try to limit myself to 3 but it's tough to do. I'm up to 3 separate drop shot rigs now different weights and hook sizes then a slip bobber rig add a bass rig for p reds then that's 5.

Very nice ! The cats are on! Congrats!

My bro-in-law got four very nice kitties today at the local very-nice-kittie-lake on livers and hot dogs.

Nice one Ken, I've caught largemouth and one of my seasons best bluegill ( 9.25") on the rascal tipped with red worm. I think Carl's on to something. I wondered about drop shoting them. Thanks for the pic.

Drop shot score!
I'll have to get that technique sorted out once I have "eyes below."
How many rods do you usually have with you, and how many do you actually use?

PS did you ever figure out what the cat was eating?
