Thanks Sharon. I made the overall scene without a high gloss to give it a natural underwater look.
The jig with the wax worm (Genz worm, glow green) is the original jig that the Bluegill was caught on. I tried to depict the scenario in which this fish was caught that cold winter day ice fishing in Nebraska.
It was a hot bite and there were a ton of people on the little lake. You could legally fish with 6 poles and most were. It was about 12 feet deep with weeds and the big gills were there. If you look close you can see all the ice jigs in the back ground
I was fishing 2 yards away from my friend when he pulled up this 2 pound, 12-inch Blue gill. Neither of us have caught a bigger one since.
Nothing was wasted from this fish. I made a plaster mold of the fish to make replicas. I made a taxidermy skin mont from it and gave that to my friend who caught it. I took the fillets off the body after skinning it out, fried them up, and all I can say is DELICIOUS! The guts and what ever else was left, I fed to my cat. He loved that stuff, after he was finished he would lick his lips and say MmeeoOW!!!
