Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

This is the Little Pee Dee River in northeast SC. It’s a black water system that recently froze over when a winter storm came through. I’ve never cut a hole though ice to go fishing so this was a first. I didn’t catch anything but I had to try. I cut an area out in the front of my dock where I know the water is deepest. I used small jigs of varying color for a while. Then I used live red worms on a jig head. Near end of day I used the red worms on a drop shot rig. I really wanted to pull a fish up through that hole but it didn’t work that way. Anyway, I thought I would share this rare event.

I've fished my entire adult life in South Carolina.........I've seen a little skim ice over the years in the Low Country but never anything like this...........the "Pee Dee" rivers locked up with ice..........Wow!.........I guess those Robins don't like the cold Jonathan..............Crazy
