LEO, would love to teach everyone , everything I know about rods and bugs. I don't know how to do it on this computoid. I'll think of  a way though and get back to you.

Tooty, if you make rods, please, teach us! I would love to learn to make some rods myself from scratch. I used to make bamboo rods, but, they're not as great as the new tech of graphite, with massive added strength and sensitivity. But any skill of any rod making is still a survival skill to learn.

HEY DAVID,

IMHO , I get it now, LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOLLLLLLLLLL, ANY ONE CAN MAKE THESE BUGS . Nope no other hobbys other than makeing a few rods once in a while. I used to shoot alot but eyes and shoulders are letting me down finally and have reduced my hobby load due to time mainly. Been retired for years and nothing better to do all winter long here so I make some bugs.

The bead head bugs with rubber legs were actually an adaptation of an old pattern called a GIRDLE BUG which was a trout fly to begin with.
Yep I do have these down to a science as haveing made em over the course of 25+ years Y OU GOT TO GET GOOD AT SOMETHING!  AS THEY SAY, EVEN A BLIND HOG FINDS AN ACORN ONCE IN A WHILE,LOL.

DANG! Now that's one collection that will nail all the fishes in your water. Give great idea to create my bugs similar to yours based on local bugs' color schemes. Awesome!

The more I look at 'em, the more I realize you got this down to a science, Toot.

No need to waver, brother.

Id call 'em over grown ant flies, for lack of a better term. I take it you dont have many other hobbies. LOL!

Nice work, Tooty. Wish I could do that.

Well I'm wrong, I tried some kind of crappie nibble or something last year and didn't work anybetter than my standard way so I got rid of those little jars!! I do add something however , now once in a while I use the smallest split shot I can find to take em to 8-12 feet when the weather turns hot. MY OLD BUDDY AL AND MY SON convinced me to try something new a couple of years ago and now I catch em on the beds and when they go back out deeper .

AS IS         NO WAXYS HERE THANKS. Got nothing against live bait , just hate the mess it makes in the boat.

Comment by David, aka, "McScruff" on February 5, 2012 at 5:48pm

Do you fish these with a live bait, or as is?

Comment by DAVID L EITUTIS on February 5, 2012 at 5:33pm

these are the emergency supplies and have two of these boxes full of the same thing. I NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNever leave home without em either, LOCKED UP IN THE TRUCK! I fish with an OOOOOOOOOOOOld dude named AL now and he's always in the trees, HOPE HE DOESN'T READ THIS! GOt to have lots of extras for all the folks I run into . I usually carry another 500-800 loose just in case.
