Yep. You got it! Tons of quagga mussels issue. This is why the eastern California aqueduct is heavily enforced for the invasive species to prevent spreading, while the northern and southern aqueducts are being monitored heavily. Some of the northern waters already got infested.
This picture has been on facebook for a few weeks. I believe it's 4lbs4ozs, at least that's what I read on facebook. SUPER fish and looks to be a spawned out female. Imagine her with eggs?? I can't imagine the fight a fish this size would put up and not to mention your reaction when you first see her close to the boat!!
To borrow a phrase that many of us have repeated through the years...."I need a bigger boat"! An Admiral of the Sunfish Species! Congrats to Joan on her great catch!
I've got just a little more info: The lucky lady angler, Joan Humpal, 68, is from Fort Atkinson, Iowa and the fish measured 16 inches long, had a 16.2 inch girth and weighed 4.04 pounds. This according to Game & Fish Magazine. I wonder where it's "ear " is? Maybe flipped under?
