My tricked out NuCanoe Frontier 12.

Spent a couple of years looking at all the options and they all either needed lots of changes to get what I wanted, couldn't do what I needed, or cost was more than I wanted to invest. I started with…Continue

June 17, 2016 at 6am on Lake Aeroflex. All tricked out and pretty much all set unless I find other goodies to add to it. That's why I'm so interested in this forum. I'm always looking for input from other yakkers for ways to make it better. Thanks for inviting me, Craig. The beauty of the Frontier 12 is that it is large enough for two, but soooo good for one. Plenty of room and so stable. I've never been good at traveling light, so the 48 inch wide deck really accommodates all my stuff and my three poles. I also like to stand and cast, and the Nucanoe is no problem to stand and fish in. The Minn Kota Endura MAX 55 is perfect for long days on big lakes and reservoirs. With a heavy duty marine battery I'm good for 9 hours on the lake, easy. When the water gets shallow and the lily pads get thick I raise up the motor and paddle around to my hearts content. An added benefit is its weight. At 78 lbs it is easy to put up on top of the SUV, no trailer needed. For now, this is the best thing for me since sliced bread.

My first time out on it was back on March 9, 2016 at Shepherd Lake. It was a disaster of mistakes, but it taught me a lesson or two about being my own skipper. I've learned a lot since then and now feel like I know what I'm doing. It gets better every time out.

December 29, 2015 I picked up my Nucanoe Frontier 12. My first boat ever, and I love it. Best purchase I've ever made. Definitely a learning curve to boating, but I'm getting better at it every time out.
