Thank's Jason.
Nice fish and congrats again Lee........
Good looking fish John. I've posted 4 pics to the group today, from top to bottom these fish hit a floating minnow lure, a beefy sized (all gold) panther martin, and the bottom 2 hit nightcrawlers. I'm still stunned at the hump on that biggest one's forehead. The last pic I posted here was caught by my brother, Matt, he casted into a creek that fed into the lake he was fishing, and caught this juvenile redbreast. From my experience they are just as aggressive as any other type of sunfish, and their diet spectrum is just as wide and varied also. They eat all the same things as gills, and eat the shelled creatures on the bottom just like crackers.
1" Chartruese or White Twister tails on 32nd oz. Jig heads are very effective .I've caught them on # 2 Blue Fox Spinners and got one on a Mister Twister Plastic Helgrammite once .Like the article said that you posted Jason ,their diet is varied!
I have caught my largest (7-8")RBS in lakes on spoons .They are aggressive at times and will hit a spoon intended for a Bass .My smaller fellows come from small rivers on worms,SpinnerFlies,Poppingbugs and terrestrial imitations with a flyrod and even corn. The prettiest RBS I have caught were from the Shenendoah River in Virginia .The colors on these southern fish are much dfferent from the NENJ /SENYareas I fish around my home .
