One thing about Walleyes they take a wide variety of baits and if you can put some meat on it it just increases your chances.
"Water temperature plays a key role. Even here, ideal temperatures vary by latitude. Southern walleyes prefer spawning temperatures between 48°F and 50°F, while their Yankee cousins and Canadian counterparts favor temperatures between 44°F and 48°F."
I 've been reading 45 degrees at my feet from shore .
Great work Carl ! Crawler harness rigs! and some baitfish rigs I guess. What is the main diet of those Saugers and Walleyes by you ?Up here I believe the top bait is the Alewife Herring with Perch and small Bass secondary choices.I have never caught a Walleye on any live bait ,just Shad Raps long model Cranks, Rapalas and a swimbait.
25# ,41 " is an outrageous sized Walleye!

Ah thanks ,for the reply Dick .My 1st Walleye came in Spring I think it was the end of April .It was 18" and caught on a Shad Rap in the Monksville Reservoir. Was back in the late 80's or maybe early 90's.
John I would say early spring I know we had ice on the aluminum boat.
