*Personal Best* Common Carp on the CARP BASIC RIG  rig tipped with corn

2015-06-02-WIXOM LAKE *PERSONAL BEST - CARP*

This one is my personal best carp and fish on the fly.

Extremely impressive fish! Wow! Any approximation on this rotund specimen?

What weight fly rod are you using on them? Can you post a few of your carp flies?

Thanks Jim! A carp dude I know guesstimated it to be in the the high teens. I got all of them on a 4wt, and yeah I'll get some carp fly pics up soon.

I caught this one on the same day.

More recent. Repeatedly, desperately, cast a nymph at this one stacked up in the top of a riffle before I had to leave and it took it.

This one is the most recent. I came across this one in a few inches of water tailing in some mud, and I had a black fly that I tied up the night before, after the usual craw colored patterns weren't working. On my first cast I got it about 8 inches away, the fish turned immediately and took the fly.

awesome fish on the fly Chris... i cant imagine... i feel like i was beat up on 20-0# braid and a 9-0 ft salmon rod

Here's a couple from our first years...2011 and 2012...of carpin'...enjoy! These are 20 to 25 pound class fish.

The pic above is Bob the Carp Whisperer...the guy taught us all we know about carp fishing, Euro-style.

all excellent quality fish!

These are from a Carp Mafia party we had two years ago in May when 6 anglers banked 55 carp during a 6 hour 'session'.

And, of course, Mr Bob with a brute of his own in his Carp Mafia clothing!...

All these fish are in the 22 to 27 pound range. Bob is getting a lot of quality fish this year and hopes to bank a 'thirty' sometime this season.

wow!!.. Jim!!! im happy to have just joined the 30+ over group... looks llike you guys have been in awhile... awesome snaps.
