Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Sorry about the message. I thought I was posting a new topic, ha! It's getting close here in Central, PA. How about where you are located? We have 3 inches on a lake about 90 minutes away. Still not enough for me.

Should be good for the weekend on a few lakes here in WNY.  I'll wait for 4"+.........  Too old to swim, too big to float.

Too much snow for now some southern lakes a possibility. I'd drive 90 min to fish on 3".

I've been seeing reports on various FB groups of ice, even fishable ice, in my area.  I probably won't be able to even test it until Monday, due to work.  Supposed to get above freezing and rain Sunday.

3” on my back yard pond…. Usually similar to the local sheltered natural lakes without current… I like to fish in 4-6” to start… I was hoping that would be this weekend. With single digits the next couple nights for lows it still may get over the 4” mark.

The snow doesn't help much with the ice production.

We having fishing here in Central, PA. I'm having a hard time getting out, but I hope I can in the coming week.  I can't believe I haven't fish through the ice yet.

the weather here has been frigid... great for ice production... one of my main lakes has 8 inches already...

i wont go in single digit weather... i dont enjoy it.

That's definitely part of the reason I haven't been out this weekend. When it turns into a battle for survival, the fun is gone. Ha!

I've been out 3 times this week.  That's one more than all of last year.  Ice is good on all but the deepest lakes here in WNY.  Doing well on 'gills with several near but not quite 10".  Caught my annual walleye with a plus one 22" upgrade.  The single digit temps do take a toll on the fun factor.

This morning it's 4 degrees with -8 windchill. As badly as I want to get on the ice, this is too cold for me. I have cold gear but nothing for below 0 temps. I'll get plenty of trips in the next couple weeks. Good luck and be safe.
