I tried using some size 8 Clousers a few days ago.  Didn't get a bite, but.....

Did catch several fish on my jigs I've tied up.

I think I'm going to basically tie some Crappie jigs, but instead of a jig, use some of those 3xl size 8 "general purpose" hooks that I have, and do a bead-head on them.  Basically, think BH Wooly Bugger, minus the palmered hackle and wire ribbing, in the colors that I've been catching them on.

Of course, I've lost my brass beads.  I think I left them out the last time I tied, and of course, my kid cleaned off the table the next day, and chucked everything.  Now I need to replace my beads.  Luckily they're cheap.

allen  when ever you make them  show them to me please! i tried out my flies yesterday and all i caught on it was a DRUM and CATFISH!!!  and i was crappie fishing!!

I saw those pics!  Nice fishing!  I haven't caught a Drum on the fly, yet.  Haven't caught a Crappie, either.

I know someone that uses this for their signature,  "If it swims and it eats, it will take a Fly."  No mention of "fish".........

At least your bugs are catching fish.

I found beads at Walmart super cheap. They are just plastic but they fit on small hooks and they have a ton of good colors.

Try tying up a few Pine Squirrel leeches...they are great crappie and bluegill flies....rusty brown, black or olive...
