Hi Clint.  Crickets, crickets, crickets.  The Choctaw has been crazy since middle of last week. Drop a hook on the edge of an eddy and fast water in 4 to 5 ft water is where they are.  Had two reports today from others who limited out yesterday below Cowford.  I'm going tomorrow  with a bass guy, but I'm taking my bream rod and crickets to work the shore line.  Also plan to go Friday for bream only. Will be working out of Smokehouse. My suggestion is work from Big Sister upriver to Cowford, but I'm hearing they are biting just about anywhere you go.

Choctawhatchee River 5-20-13

Yesterday limited out on bream with a buddy.100 in the box. No, we didn't clean them all but  some neighbors did and they are happy. The bite is red hot this week on the Choctaw. I believe full moon is Friday of this week.  Here is a slide show if it works. That my buddy Freddy holding the titty bream. I'm the other guy

Finally after many months of high water the Choctawhatchee River is just right. It's been right for a few days.  I got out today and put 31 good eating size in the box, but no bragging size.

A good many boats on the water and everyone I saw were after bream.  Sorry, not photos. Forgot to take the camera.

Finally caught a few bream yesterday in the Williams Lake area of the Choctawhatchee River. 8 big enough to keep and about 15 tiny things.

Saw a good number of boats on the water but most were after striped and hybrid bass and reds which are feeding on shad right now. Best time for them is at the crack of day you need to be in the river delta are with hook in the water.

Week after next headed by to Lake Seminole for another week and see if we can find some more of those big bluegills like we caught last month.

Went down to lower Choctawhatchee River on Tuesday looking for mullet and bream.  Mullet still not back in their usual holes. I did snag one along with 4 large shad. Met up with a buddy at the mullet hole.  We decided to try for bream. He went to Wildcat and I went up to Watermelon.  Neither of us found much to speak of.I think I caught 6 or 7 three/four finger size and released all. Watermelon as full of fish according to the sonar. I figure they were spawning shad based on a conversation with a friend who knows the river ways better than I.  Bad weather all this week will keep me home, but plan to get back out there on Monday after the weather clears up a bit.
