Why is it I have never caught a Smallie in the Wanaque River ? Seems to me at least small ones can make the River over that Greenwood Lake dam headwater area .Only Stocked Trout ,small Chubs, great looking little RBS ,a few 5" Bluegills ,and Pumpkinseeds and once a small Bullhead on a Crayfish piece intended for a Trout!

I've since caught more small bullheads and seen big (5lbs?)carp in the shallows at the headwaters of the Wanaque .

Caught three smallies in July so far this year in the Wanaque .Glad to see they are in there .I can tell you a July Smallmouth is one fighting fish on a fly rod!
