Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Here is a Mitchell 310 UL on the left and a 308 on the right. They are almost the same size except for the spool diameter. The body is the same size and same parts inside.

Here are Mitchell 310 UL's on the left(3 of them) then a 308 and far right is a 408(exact same size as 308-just higher gear ratio). As you can see have lots of extra spools and inside the metal tin box are extra bail spring, anti reverse springs and a few other assorted items like extra body-bail-handle.

GREAT LAYOUT KELLY !!!!!!!

This is a matching set of 409's with consecutive serial numbers in their boxes/cases(which are plastic) and a 308 on the far left for comparison purposes.

These are 408's-not 409's(309's and 409's are right handed)

These are Zebco 44 underspins-a favorite of Bill Binkelman of Nightcrawler Secrets fame and Fishing Facts Magazine. That is a Mitchell 308 on far left for comparison.

Top picture is Shimano 750 with Mitchell 308(upper left) and Mitchell 310 UL(lower left).

Middle picture(sorry it isn't clearer) is a close-up of the Shimano 750 and Mitchell 310 UL.

Bottom picture is newer Mitchell 310's on far left(two of them), then old Mitchell 310 UL, Shimano 750 and far right is Mitchell 308.

In these two pictures we have from left to right, Mitchell 308, Shimano 2500, Shimano 750 and Mitchell 310 UL.

thanks kelly i now know i have 2 310s.i thought they were 308s.looks like you and your family are set for reels for a while

Hi Jim;

Do they not say 310 on them?

Now them reels bring back some old memories.

kelly they are old and were my dads and uncles.still on the garcia rods.i just keep them put away.i thought they were 308s with small spools, never looked at the numbers

Here are some old fly rods-in the top picture(from top to bottom) we have an old split bamboo fly rod in pretty rough shape and of unknown origin-needs lots of work to make it fishable-I enjoy a challenge.

Next is a Horrocks-Ibbottson two piece fiberglass 7 1/2 foot fly rod with a Medalists reel. The glass in this rod sort of sprials the whole length from handle to the tip. Not sure what this one is but would guess 4 or 5 weight.

Second from bottom is another Horrocks-Ibbottson two piece split bamboo 8 foot rod, the "Favorite" model. It is in pretty ok  shape-just needs some shellac over windings and the second line guide of bottom section re-installed. No idea what weight this one is.

Finally, the bottom is another Horrocks-Ibbottson 3 piece split bamboo 8 1/2 foot rod with an extra tip, called the "Spinner" model. It is in very good shape-just may need some shellac over a winding or two-I could fish with it right now but don't want to lose any parts so will wait till I go over it this winter. The reel is a J C Higgins fly reel and no idea of the rod weight, either.

These bottom two spit bamboo rods have excellent workmanship. No idea how old they might be-maybe someone on here knows something about them. I bought all these rods from an old gentlemen in Colorado when I was living there in the early 1970's and I know he had some of them for awhile.
