Lots of gills coming off wood cover and floating docks(anchored off shore)deeper shorelines are target areas.32nd oz. feather ,marabou or Bucktail Jigs tipped with crawler pieces or Twister tails are really banging them consistently.

Wow! Those are sensational northern strain bluegills! Locally here in Maryland, I got maybe a dozen 10 inch gills this year, about a dozen 10 to 11 inch shellcrackers and perhaps 15 GSFXBG hybrids that ran from 10 to 11 3/4 inches.

Ten inch bluegills are high quality fish anywhere in the country. Those 10 inchers you are catching are comparable to 12 inches in the south.

Great job!

Here's a 10" CT Bluegill that my son caught a few years ago.  It just made the 10" mark and he got a CT DEP Catch and Release pin for it.

mike i completely agree i only got 1 10" gill last season and only an hand full in the 9 range.  i catch all my big ones during the spawn.

In my experience, true 10" Bluegill in CT are pretty special fish.  I have caught one that was pushing 11", but even 9.5" Bluegill are really nice fish here in CT.

in the first pond i have heard of some real hogs like 11 or 12 inches. i caught some nice 10 inchers in there. the second lake does not have many gills but it has some big pumpkin seeds and jumbo perch.
