Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

In the photo below is 3.25 hours of fishing a week ago.

Bait - maggot (spikes). Gear: cane pole & float. Public Pond 15 minutes from Chicago.

All fish were counted and released. BigBluegill.com members can get in on a little contest and the person closest to the correct total will win a set of panfish floats valued at $33. 8-pieces of new top secret Attack - finesse panfish tackle will be yours - if you can be the closest to the correct number of fish caught (including the one that hopped out for the picture - yes!).

Members get 1 guess, 1 number. The contest ends Cinco de Mayo and the winner will be announced on my radio show - MAY 7th.

Here are some clues:

1. My hand was killing me

2. The majority of this bag (95%) is made up of bluegills

3. I was the only one catching these

4. 7 fish were put back and are not pictured

5. yes that escapee counts to the total

6. One hook was used

7. It was a blast!

Reply here with your guess. If you email me a guess, I will post a number you guessed - but not post your name (if you wish to participate, but not have your guess public for some reason).

My radio listeners are eligible and if guesses come in, I will post their numbers here so that everyone can see numbers through the entire contest.

There will be a tie-breaker. The tie-breaker will be announced here and I will allow the people to guess involved in the tie-breaker.

Have fun- we will reveal the Secret Attack tackle the week after the contest as well... Revolution participants, you can then participate and get your hands on some of this at a BigBluegill.com 50% off discount. Sound good? I hope this is fun for all that participate and a little something to give back to the community of the best anglers in the world. Bluegill anglers.

Final call for entries - guess the number of fish caught in this bag tonight ( the answer will be revealed shortly)...

Once the answer is revealed- the contest has ended.

I have been out of town, fishing, teaching and ultra busy, but will catch up tonight.

I have more photos to post and 257 was the magic number so I will chase down 3 winners from the entries and I can say I believe they are all here on the BBG.com.

The prize chest grew thanks to a donation from David so the winner will have their choice of a float set -or- a really cool fishing tips video. This will be a tough choice as the float set is an "ultimate" gill-fishing set (the same ones I used to catch the 257 fish, as well as 311 fish & 205 fish in the last 3 times out).

I hope everyone had a little fun guessing - I will have more photos of recent outings to post tonight as well.

I noticed that my post was put in my blogs so if you were resourceful you found the answer but here is the answer. Did anyone have some fun guessing? And, yes, I did chum to attract and excite these fish- I would say it works (773 fish says it might work a little bit).

Also, I was out Saturday afternoon and a coldfront shut my fish down hard! While I did catch 205, I only caught about 8 in the final hour so I was on my way to a really good day when nature flipped their switch. Brrrr.

Winners announced on tonight's showgram all winners are from BigBluegill.com!
3 winners will get an 8-piece tackle set or a really cool fishing tips book.

Steve, Robert & Vik - you won thanks for playing everyone.
I will have details on ordering the discounted tackle as a reward for everyone at the end of the weekend.

Johnny
