Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Does anyone know where I can find some quality 1 lb test monofilament line?  I thought that Berkley Trilene had an Ice Fishing line that was 1 lb test and had a copper color...?

I snagged some 2 lb test off ebay. I use it for leaders.

Problem is, I cant see the stuff to tie it!

Mono or floro? If used just for tippets off a main line check the fly fishing areas for 25yd spools. Check some of the www.iceshanty.com threads for light lines. Personally need to get down to an 8 or 12oz tippet to fool them in winter at times, generally run 2# with a foot or so of 1#-1.5# to even get then to sniff it in the cold. Some guys are into sewing thread but can't recall the brand, seems to work fine. Personally like ASSO lines/tippets on panfish. Ultra fine, sinks like a rock and tough as nails for a IGFA rated line
Did you get my message?
Yes I did.  Thanks!  I really don't know that brand, so I don't want to spend that much, plus have 12 spools of it.... What if it is not any good?

I understand. Ive seen the brand many times, though. I think it is probably a house brand or something like that . I can remember when I never heard of Cajun brand either - now it's everywhere.

Odds are it comes from the same looms that turns out everything else. That much would sure last a long time....

hobby lobby but not in any quantity i use it for ice fishing the shallows

Hey Jeff... I got some 1 lb test from Maxima... very soft line and casts really good with the tiny jigs we use... If I recall it wasn't readily available in tackle stores... I went online and contacted them directly. I know you can get it in fly fishing leader spools (about 30 yards per spool)... I tried it that way before I bought the bulk spools... I just tied a Surgeons knot from the 2lb main line and added a 4 foot 1 LB leader... worked great and the Knot is very strong... never had one  break on me...

Ok Thanks Rob!  Maxima makes a strong line.

Vicious makes 1# ice line, which I use year round. I use hi-vis yellow with no reduction in bites vs clear line.

I also use Fireline crystal, 1# dia. and 2# dia. with good results.

Berkley Trilene Micro Ice. Don't know about the color though. Hope that helps some.
