Do you love big bluegill?
Alright, I am new here so I'm sure this has probably been discussed. I'm looking at getting one or two new rods for gill fishing. I have never owned a rod under Medium light power so I wanted to get some advise. I'm really not fixed to a budget but don't want to get crazy, say max around $250.
I'm looking at St. Croix panfish series or avid series rods. I just don't know what power I want. Will I be upset going UL for general bluegill fishing?
Any other recommendations? I'm a big fan of St. Croix so I think I'm sticking to that but persuade me otherwise if you would like, I'm all ears (or eyes).

Exactly! I get the "look" if I even mention something about getting a new item. Now I just get it, stash it and it become part of the landscape. when you have so much stuff it all blends in. The great thing is I have a store and I bring stuff home to my wive and load her closest full. When see says anything I just open the door and say "look"

Tried out my new light action 6'6" Cheap-O rod today. Put on a rear drag shimano loaded with 4# and with a lipless crankbait I hooked up with a one pound channel cat. It was fun. No bluegills today, left early b/c of wind and the water cooled considerably from last week. Only exciting part was the cat and the 7' gator watching from 40 feet away.
I'll leave the gators for the young guys, this one is bigger than I can reach around.
eric ;; like they say buddy; once you go ultra light;; you;ll never go back!!
my favorite rod is a fenwic blackhawk in a 7 foot; ul. matched with a quantum reel ; 8 pound test line. and ive caught fish over 20 pounds with it! to say i had fun catching big ones like that with it is a understatement!!
