Do you love big bluegill?
Me and my cousin went twice to fish at a pond we had fished in with no success at all, this time with a pontoon boat. It's kind of limited if you dont have a boat. You are surrounded by trees.
I caught a sacalait with the H&H Cutie Spin, a tiny spinnerbait, then switched over to a Bobby Garland blue and silver Stroll R, and caught three more sacalait, No bass, no gill.
Two days later we returned, and it was quite different because of the cold front, I caught one bass about 2 pounds, and that was all. We then moved from the pond and fished at the West Suction Canal, which is the west spillway boat launch area.
In two hours, I caught 6 bass, dropped one right before the boat, caught them on a Stroll R, a purple worm, Rattle Trap, and Rooster Tail.
The problem at the boat launch is there is only one ramp. Sometimes people launch and just sit there, waiting for a friend, and it just crowds up rather quickly. Two men got into a shouting match because one guy launched a 22 foot Lafitte Skiff and didnt want to drift away from the launch because his son was on the way.
Big mess. Me, i launch off the side and its really easy.
Still need to get my reels spooled properly. aside from the Zebco issues, I got the Shimano spinning reel and its kind of hard to keep line on it. Tend to want to jump off the reel, even with only half capacity filled.
