Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I went Bluegill fishing Saturday at one of our state owned county lakes and when I got there the water looked stagnant, like it had a bad case of fertilizer overdose. After about an hour of unproductive fishing we put the boat back on the trailer and went back to the office and I complained to the manager about the problem. He yold me that the cold weather spell we have had here in mid- Alabama region had caused the smaller lakes here to turn over and that the film on the lake was dead alge. who would have tunk it. It has killed the bluegill bite here for now until the water gets staightened out a bit. Nothing caught nothing posted ..Dad burn it

Which lake did you fish Vic?

Matt, I was it Delta State lake here in Alabama

Well that sucks.

I dont ever remember see'n anything like that but that dont mean it cant happen, wow, interest'n.

If ya go back keep us posted.

We don't have that problem down here in the Fla. Panhandle, but the bite is terrible. No one is doing hardly anything. I went to local city lake this morning and fished 5:15 to 6:30 with flyrod.  Did not get a single bite.  Five other trips in May to nearby 600 acre lake and the  river was not worth the effort or gas money.
Here in NE Arkansas , high water is whats happening still, ponds are all full, and fishing sux, rescue teams still looking for bodies of fisherman that tried to fish the high water last weekend. I'm chomping at the bit to go , but I know to wait till the water is right and safe.   LOFR
yesterday my fishing buddy went to the river and caught 60 but only keep the biggest. He thinks we are back in the Bluegill buisness..Yeah warm water and crickets.....
