Do you love big bluegill?

Right now the deep bite is on fire at Lake dunlap the water is holding at 62-64 and the fish are staging near drop offs. I normally fish with live bait on a drop shot rig and it was producing really good yesterday so I decided to try spooning, I must be doing something wrong because I couldn't buy a strike. could any of you guys explain the technique so I can try again today.
I using the rattling spoons in a 1/8 config. tipped with gulp leaches
I caught my biggest fish yet a 13.75 red ear
