Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I have always used Trilene XL line and wanted to know if any of you use the SOS mono and how you liked it compared to the trilene line in 2# and 4# sizes.

I haven't used the SOS, but the XL you're referring to is the most manageable line I've used yet. No complaints at all.

Larry...I have used SOS 2 pound mono for the past two seasons and I prefer it to any other 2 pound line I have yet to try. I like the clear, or green color. This is a tough line, with an actual test that could exceed 2 pound rating, it just seems tougher than all the other 'twos'. On this line, I have landed 25 inch pickerel, largemouths almost to 6 pounds, channel cats to eight and a personal best 23 inch 5 pound plus rainbow trout last spring.

I traditionally spool no more than 40 yards on my ultralight reels, with a 4 pound test 'backing' to fill the spool out with the SOS. Since I am not making cast much longer than 60-70 feet at the most with small jigs, I see no point in wasting line 'buried' on a spool where it will never be utilized.

I think you will find this a good product for you and would give it a try.

Thank you both for your replies.  I am hopeing to fish more of the small ponds and streams around home for panfish using small jigs.

I have used Trilene XL line for probably 35 years and have found nothing that even compares to it's manageability and limpness...I may be wrong but it has proven time and time again for me it's the best.

Although listed under the 'Trout Magnet' brand name, SOS mono is actually made by Sufix, and I like their monos as well.
