all of these look super good Michael!!  glad to see another fly tyer on site!!   blue gills are our favorite fish to go after!!

Thanks Carl.

My first post. I wanted to make sure i could post and picture. I haven't found the new members intro page yet. Thanks for the welcome.

I usually lurk for a period of time before joining a forum but... I found this place, saw flyfisherman, fly tyers and bluegill fisherman were here and jumped in.

Looking forward to diving in deeper.

bullet head beauties ,what size there?

size 10, 3xl

thanks

hi Michael-- this site is the very best site dedicated to the pursuit of blue gills!!  ( even if some of the guys here go after those trash fish-- also known as green carp;; the more common name  would be bass tho) !!  we have fly tyers;; jig makers as well as jig tyers;; rod makers;; even fishing float makers!! take some time to browse around-  check out the blogs and post. most of all- if you have any questions-- just ask!  its guaranteed somebody will answer!!!

Thanks Carl,

I too have built rods. That said. I was fascinated by the floats i saw while browsing, almost makes me want to investigate how to use them. Would be a new trick for an old dog though. But I love the 'folk art' of them !!!

i am very excited to look at lots of stuff on this site. I already looked though about 40 pages of photos and there are lots of folks that can 'write with light'... AMAZING

rest assured i am NOT shy and the questions will be forth coming.

Thanks for the fine welcome.

WHAT WE HAVE HERE FOLKS is an advanced tier !!!!!! check out his deer hair bugs . You need to see some of Sleepy's work , MARK SLEEPER ON HERE .......We gotta call ya something other than the full name, I'm TOOTY , and lots of folks on here go by nicknames. Gonna give you one right mow Mr. Charske , how bout MC ?

lots of folks call me highway (from 30 years in the motion picture business as The Highwayman & Co).

Charske is fine too. very proud of the name and i dare say you will likely not meet another (with that spelling). sons, daughters, grandchildren excepted, still pretty long odds.

Thank you for the compliment. I learned to tie a simple wooly worm from old mountain hermit who killed chickens for feathers and had a SPOOL of chenille and a shoebox of hooks, all the same type and size. No vise. In the 70's I sold flies to and was tutored by Dan Bailey Sr. (yes i lived in Texas and he was in Montana). my flies were also sold by the old company H Cook Sporting Goods. my forte was 'muddler minnows and i tied thousands (that's how i learned to spin deer hair).  have to say i am most fascinated with the talent and artistry of spinning and stacking hair in this day and age. a lot of serious talent out there that far surpasses anything i have ever done. but thanks again !!!
