Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Since a large part of a redear's/shellcracker's diet is very small clams, has anyone here tried larger freshwater clams cut in small pieces? I never have, but often wondered if they would work. I wonder if they would taste the same as the small ones?

I've used these big freshwater clams growing up in Louisiana with pretty good luck......Seems where I fished everything would hit them Vince.....

I have used them for catfish on the Mississippi River, and around here at Pay Lakes, but have never tried them for Shellcrackers. That was a good picture of one, Jeffrey.

My Granpa used to swear by Mussel's he'd take along a rake and bucket and just gather some up from the shallow sandy areas. He was big on Catawba(sp) worms to.

Some of the best times I've ever had, fishing with Granpa.

I think you're on to a good idea but I've never seen a freshwater clam as large as the photo.
